Dear Enquirer

Earlier this year, you indicated that you might be interested in exploring the Catholic Faith and possibly becoming a member of the Catholic Church.

I’m writing to you now to let you know a couple of pathways which you could follow this autumn.

We’re running a 7-week course called Discovering Christ as a basic exploration of who Jesus is and what he has to do with the meaning of life. This is a great starting point for church membership and a way to get to know other members of the parish who will be taking part in the course. There are three venues for the course:

– 12.30 on Mondays at the Hall of All Hallows Church, Miskin (starts 25 Sep)
– 12.30 on Mondays at the Cwm Farm Shop in Treorchy (starts 25 Sep)
– 6.30 pm on Thursdays at the Pick & Shovel in Treforest (starts 28 Sep)

Each session begins with a meal and runs for 2½ hours. There is no session in half-term week (30 Oct / 2 Nov).

I’m also giving a series of talks on Sunday evenings in St Mary Magdalene Church, Ynyshir, called Catholic Roots. These explore basic Catholic teachings and how they are rooted in the Bible and in the ancient traditions handed down to us from the first followers of Jesus. These are given at 5.15 pm starting 10 Sep for 5 weeks; then there will be a break since I am away the second half of October, and a second season will pick up from 4 Nov.

If you’re interested in taking part in one of these pathways, please let me know which one. If none of these are possible for you, but you do wish to take the next step towards membership of the Catholic Church, please get in touch to make an appointment so we can meet and talk about what happens next.

Every blessing

Pastor Gareth Leyshon –
