On Saturday 28th September, the Vigil of the Feast of St Michael, the Good Counsel network has asked for a National Day of Prayer and Fasting for an end to abortion and euthanasia. You may choose to fast from all food except bread and water for the day, or to fast from a particular food or luxury, such as chocolate, alcohol, or watching television, as long as it is a sacrifice for you. For prayer, the Network is asking everyone to pray a rosary – an extra rosary if you already pray one daily. You can also make an extra effort such as going to Mass or Adoration.
The Good Counsel Network says: ‘Last year this country saw the largest number of abortions ever. Your prayer and fasting is urgently needed.’
“And the people of Nineveh believed in God; they proclaimed a fast and put on sackcloth, from the greatest to the least…God saw their efforts to renounce their evil ways. And God relented about the disaster which He had threatened to bring on them, and He did not bring it.” (Jonah 3:5,10).
